While on our vacation in Kitty Hawk, NC, we took a road trip down the coast to the town of Hatteras. On the way back, we climbed the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is probably most famous for its half-mile journey in 1999 to move it a half-mile inland to escape beach erosion at its original location. This 900-ton, 12-story building has around 250 stairs to reach the observation deck. While climbing up and down this staircase, Camille received numerous comments from "She's pregnant; if she can do it, I can do it." to "You are so brave!" This is a landmark event for Baby Niemi as she won't be able to repeat it until she is at least 42 inches tall.
