Girls on the Run 5K

Avalon participated in Girls on the Run last Spring and she loved it so much she decided to do it again this fall!  She picked Daddy to run the 5K race with her this past weekend!  Which turned out to be a good decision because Mommy recently sprained her ankle in volleyball and can not run at the moment.

Avalon ran a great race!  Avalon and Daddy finished in just under 36 minutes!  The weather turned out really nice.  Sunny, not too windy, and about 45 degrees, which is a pretty nice running temp especially for November 12th.

This is such an amazing program.  We are so glad that Avalon can be a part of it and that she enjoys it so much!

Here they are at the start of the race!

And this is just before the finish!  And after the race!

This is the team getting ready for the race!  So much fun!

Tae Kwon Doe - Board Breaking

The kids went to a birthday party at Family Martial Arts last Spring and they had so much fun, they decided to give TKD a try.  At the birthday party, they got to break a wooden board, but I didn't stay, so I missed it.  Finally, this past weekend, I got to see them break boards!  It was very excited and the kids had a great time!   Check of the videos later in this post!

They also participated in a parent child class and Avalon competed in Marker Sparing, which did get a little dangerous at times!  :)  Avalon did get marked a lot based on the looks of her shirt!

Avalon has continued with TKD and she passed her test for her High Yellow Belt!  Congrats Avalon!  Great job!

Here's some videos of the board breaking!  So much fun!

Archer received an award for 50 total memorized pieces and Avalon received an award for 100 total memorized pieces!

Mommy's 40th Birthday Adventure

Now, we are going back even a bit farther.  For Mommy's 40th Birthday back in March, Jarad and the kids put on an amazing all day scavenger hunt filled with gifts and fun activities!

The scavenger hunt started at about 9:00 AM.  One of the first clues was GPS coordinates that lead us outside of the house to the dinosaur park at Inis Grove where I had to use the GPS to find the next clue:

The next clue, which was probably one of the hardest to find, led us downstairs to a large gift that was hidden in plain site behind a bunch of bins, so I couldn't find it for quite a while!  It was a workout bench with a workout program in a binder for me!  I had to complete the workout to get the next clue.  Apparently, I don't have any pictures of the bench or the workout, but I do have a picture of what the kids were up to while we worked out.

Next I opened the gifts that the kid made for me by themselves!  Such awesome gift makers!  I love them and the gifts too!  :)

It was already lunch time, so we ate some lunch before continuing on with the scavenger hunt.  The next clue involved googling to solve.  The answer of "Hermione" led us to the new Harry Potter deck building game, which is a gift I had already opened on my "real" birthday!  In here the clue said we had to go the the library and win the game to receive the next clue!  Lots of fun!

After defeating the game, the next clue said we had to go to a shop downtown and ask the clerk if they had something for Camille.  First, I thought it was the game store, but they didn't know what I was talking about.  Next, we tried the flower store and she also said she didn't know.  But...it really was flowers, so we headed back in to find someone else that did know about the flowers for Camille!

From here we headed up to Archer's new favorite lego set that he built to find another clue!

Which led us to Avalon's favorite restaurant at the time for dinner!  The Cafe!

After dinner, we had to find the next clue, which Jarad had on the table at the restaurant, which was a shopping list.  So we headed to the store to buy the ingredients before heading home to make the dessert, which we had to find the recipe in recipe book.  Berry Ice Cream!  Yummy!

After dessert, we got a clue that led us to one of our favorite games: Play Nine!

Now you are thinking, this scavenger hunt must be coming to an end soon...right?  Not yet!  The next clue led us to the hot tub where we found a gift floating in a dry bag!  Love it!

After a nice hot tub, we headed upstairs to open the final gift at 8:30 PM, which was a massage book!  Thus, my Amazing adventure ended with a massage on our new massage table!  Wow, what a fun filled day of family fun!  Thanks to my AMAZING husband and KIDS!  Love you all so much!

Good night!  Sleep tight!

Cub Scouts - Archer

Archer joined the cub scouts last year!  He was unsure about joining this year until he found out that they are going to the Omaha zoo for an overnight in the Spring!  Jarad decided to be the leader of his den this year as well!  They had a campout last weekend at McFarland Park.  It rained during the entire 1.5 hour Adventure Race (Hike), but after that the weather cleared up and they had a nice, but cool, night for camping.  I think both Archer and Daddy had a great time!  Check out their new uniforms!

A few other pics I took while I was there for about 30 minutes:

While Daddy and Archer were camping, Avalon and I had a great time watching our first roller derby bout!  My friend, Tracy, invited us to watch her bout!  I didn't get any good pictures, but here'sa glimpse of what we saw.

Mothers Day

I'm going back a little here...Mothers Day this past May.  Jarad was out of town, so the kids were on their own and they did a really great job!

My day started out with breakfast in bed made entirely by the kids!  Homemade Pink Lemonade and peanut butter toast!  Yummy!

I have to admit, it was a bit hard to stay up in my room knowing the kids were in the kitchen by themselves!  :)  I did have a few rules such that they could not use the stove or oven and they could only use the kids knives!

Followed by some really fun scavenger hunts that each of the kids created on their own with some really amazing homemade gifts along the way!!  Then they proceeded to make several more scavenger hunts just because they were having so much fun!

As well as some really thoughtful gifts that they made at school!  These kids are so great!  I love them so much!  It was amazing Mother's Day made even more special since the kids came up with everything entirely on their own!

A flip book from Archer!  Archer loves the rainbow colors!  Beautiful and so sweet!

Avalon made a beautiful and very thoughtful flip book too!

And Archer made this teapot card as well:
