Avalon went on her first camping trip last week, August 10-12. Grandma (Mummi) and Grandpa (Ukki) Niemi, Jarad, Camille and Avalon went to McCarthy Beach State Park near Hibbing Minnesota. Avalon loved being outside and she got lots of exercise. She walked and walked, which greatly improved her walking skills especially with inclines and bumps. She, of course, picked up lots of twigs, rocks and pine cones, of which many of them went to her mouth, so we did have to keep a close eye on her. She also enjoyed a boat ride where she mostly walked on the bottom of the boat. And she touched her first fish! (see pic below). Mummi caught a Northern Pike, which we ate for dinner, that was almost as tall as Avalon. Avalon was very interested in nature as well, she pointed out every ant, spider, chipmunk, and bird that she saw and she tried to catch a few ants too, but was unsuccessful. She got to ride in a backpack carrier for the first time and had lots of fun talking away during our hike. And she also slept outside in a tent for the first time and she slept great both nights. Avalon definitely loves the outdoors, so we'll have to plan another camping trip soon.

What a trooper! Looking at the pictures makes me laugh remembering all the explorations Avie did on the trip. Such a fun girl!
That is one big fish! I look forward to joining in on the next Niemi camping trip. Chris
The picture of the three of you is great!
