Happy Birthday Daddy!

It was Jarad's birthday last week and we celebrated this past weekend with lots of fun activities. We ended up with a full day on Saturday, so the activities ran into the next morning. Thus, Sunday morning started with birthday brownies and ice cream. Avalon did a great job singing happy birthday to Daddy and helping him blow out the candles as you'll see in this video.

Avalon made Daddy a Birthday card earlier in the week.
Saturday's activities started with a trip to the butterfly preserve where the butterflies migrate in the winter. It is very close to our house and it was absolutely beautiful and amazing!
For lunch, we had Jarad and and Avalon's favorite Mac & Cheese and peas. Jarad ate while playing his computer game.

Next, Camille took Jarad and Avalon on a scavenger hunt looking for presents. This lasted the whole day whenever we had time and into Sunday morning as well.
Jarad found the birthday card that Avie made for him.
On some clues, Jarad needed some assistance and turned to the computer. For instance, one clue stated "something that Camille vowed to do for Jarad at their wedding." Jarad actually found our wedding vows on the computer to come up with the answer. Does anyone else remember?

Avalon helped Daddy open his presents that we found along the way.

This is actually a picture that Jarad took of the tall ships we say this summer in Duluth. I made a poster print for him to put on the wall.
Here is what Archer was doing during the hunt. As usual, he was pulling up on the furniture.

And then he spotted a Cherrio that he didn't quite get it into his mouth.
Avalon had her own scavenger hunt that day as well. She wasn't too into the hunt, but she had fun playing with the toys where she found the clues hidden along the way. One of her clues was in this book that Avalon insisted Daddy read to her once we had it out. It's a fun interactive book where it keeps asking her if the pigeon can drive the bus and she is supposed to answer "no."

The next clue was on the pop up toy. She gave Daddy the clue and then went on to play with this toy for a while.

But eventually she found the gifts (for both her and Archer) and was very excited to open and play with them. And so was Daddy!
And a couple more cute pics from the day.

And some great pictures of the birthday brownies and ice cream that we enjoyed on Sunday morning.
