Avie had this fun idea that she wanted to create a guessing game jar for the kids at the Easter brunch at our friend's house. So she asked me for a small box and cut a hole in the top. She filled it with her own candy. Then she asked me to count the candy and small toys and put the total number in a sealed envelope. Then she used packing tape to seal the box and cover the hole on top. That way, the kids could see the candy but not open the box. Then she decided to use her tootsie roll bank to collect the guesses from the kids. So proud of her for giving away her candy and coming up with a fun idea and executing it all by herself! She even went around to all the kids at the party asking if they wanted to participate. Archer said he did, but that if he won, that she could give the candy to the child who gets 2nd place! How sweet! And he did win, in fact, he guessed the exact number, 32!
Avie also wanted to make something for the brunch as well. So the night before when she was reading outside, she was looking through all her cook books for a recipe that she could make. She book marked all the possibilities and then decided on one to make Easter morning based on the ingredients and time we had. So she made mini chocolate chip muffins. I helped a little, but she did most of it all by herself except for putting it in and taking it out of the oven, They were delicious! She loves to pick out and cook recipes!
While Avie and I were baking, Jarad was busy working on taking out the deck and Archer was in his room creating an Easter Egg hunt. So after family meeting, we headed upstairs for family fun time, which was going on the egg hunt in Archer's room! Love it!
I was also busy preparing an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids as well. I created a phrase that will lead the kids to a couple of presents. Then I put one letter into each egg, so once they find all the eggs, they will have to unscramble the letters to get the clue to the presents. I had the eggs and presents ready, but it was time to head to the brunch. By the time be got back home again, it was too late to have the hunt, so we haven't done it yet. Something to look forward to later this week!
The kids walked over to our friend's Keri and Stephen's house on their own a little before 11. Jarad and I showed up about 30 minutes later. When the kids saw the eggs for the egg hunt in the back year, then decided to go into the front door. We had a fun and relaxing time at brunch! The kids got to participate in the egg hunt with over 100 eggs. Needless to say, they both found lots of eggs with candy!
After everyone else left the brunch, we hung around and chatting with our friends for another hour and a half before heading out to the park to play some sand volleyball together! It turned out to be really windy! But we still had fun! The kids went to the park and played for a while and then came back to watch us play for a bit! After 2 games, the girls wanted to play!
It was so fun to see them actually playing with the dads! Too cute! The girls were starting to look pretty good at volleyball too! As you can see in these videos!
Avie and I practiced her piano, the kids showered and we read our family book, Master Minds, which is getting really interesting!
We had such a fun day together!
