But on Sunday, we had the whole day and the weather was beautiful, so we checked off a bunch of fun activities on our list! We still started the day off with relaxing a bit. Then we went out for a short walk to play Pokemon Go and our new addition "Wizerds Unite," which is a similar game to Pokemon Go but where you are a wizard exploring the world of Harry Potter. We came up with a brilliant idea of getting the kids started on these games on their IPADs and connecting them to service through our personal hot spot! Archer, of course, loves playing Pokemon Go so he has joined us for our walk every day since! We were hoping Avie would get more interested in the new Harry Potter game, but she didn't really like it. So we may try Geocaching with her next!
After our walk, we ate some lunch and got everything ready for our planned day of fun! We started out by going cross country skiing! As part of our downhill ski pass, we added on the cross country skiing at Cypress Mountain. Then, back in October, we went to Sports Junkies and bought the kids used cross country skis, boots, and poles. When we arrived, there were tons of people and cars, so it took a while to park. The Hollyburn Lodge is actually located so you have to ski/snowshoe to it. So that sounded like a fun destination to get the kids interested and offer some hot chocolate. But as it turns out the kids were excited to try it! We had taken them once last year in Duluth and they both really liked it!
So off we went. The lodge was closer than we expected, so we decided to try out the green loop and stop at the lodge on our return. The kids were all for it! Even when we came to the first turn where we could have gone back to the lodge, they both wanted to keep going! So we had a really great time! The weather was so warm, 11 degrees C, that the kids actually took off their coats and mittens! And the snow was melting off the trees, so many times a large amount of snow would come crashing down. The kids opted to ski more in the middle to avoid getting hit and I almost got hit as one grazed off me! See the Cross Country Ski post for more pics on this adventure!
After the loop, we headed into the lodge, which turned out to not be so quaint as I was expected as it was loud and full of people. But we still stopped for some hot chocolate and a cookie! Although, Archer did say "Why are we having hot chocolate when we are so hot." :)
After the lodge, we skied back to our car and then headed to the Burnaby Village Museum, which is a village that is set back in time! It is usually only open in the Spring/Summer, but they have a special Christmas event where it is open for a month and decorated for Christmas with lights as well as Christmas Trees in the buildings! And it is free! By the time we arrived, it was already dark, but it is was to see it all lit up for Christmas. We had fun roaming around and checking out all the buildings!

On Saturday, we went to visit a school called MindStein where Archer is going to attend one morning a week and he played a game called Qbitz, which is alot like the quilt pattern game we found at the museum where Archer made all 4 patterns shown! And here is Avie trying out the barber chair!
Our last stop was the holiday baking, where we walked into the farm house just in time for the kids to get a sugar cookie fresh out of the oven!

By this time we were very hungry so we headed to a nearby sushi restaurant for dinner! Sushi is the kids favorite place to eat out since we've been in Vancouver area and there are tons of Sushi restaurants around here, so that is great!

After dinner, we headed to the Coquitlam Express Hockey game! We usually just show up and buy a ticket and walk in, but this time there was a long line. So we didn't even get into the game until a couple of minutes after it started. But it still wan't too full inside. The kids actually like the hockey games! It is the first sporting event we have taken them to where they actually watch the game and are interested. Avie likes the checking and fights best! We have a routine now where we change seats each period to get closer to the goal where the Express is shooting on! And we always get a treat after the first period! :) . And this game went into overtime where they play 3 v. 3 and then into a shoot out, so it was quite exciting! Coquitlam won in the shoot out!
