Archer waves bye bye!

Archer waved bye bye for the first time when we video chatting with Mummi and Ukki during his first birthday party with Grandma, Grandpa, Libby and Chris on May 27th. It was really sweet! We were saying goodbye to Mummi and Ukki on the video and Archer started to wave. Above is a video from a couple days later and below is a video we captured the next night.

Avie sings Happy Birthday to Archie!

Avalon and I were outside pushing Archer in his new car on May 10th. I told Avalon that this was Archer's new car that he received for his first birthday from Grandma and Grandpa and she said "Is it my birthday?" I said "no, it is Archie's birthday," even though it was really in 2 days. I guess it was just easier to agree with her at this point than explain he received his gift before his birthday. So she stopped pushing Archer and sang him Happy Birthday to him. It was so sweet!

Avie's first race!

Avalon ran in her first race on the 4th of July in Moorhead. Her uncle Grant and aunt Marie ran in the 5K and 10K, respectively. Avie cheered them on along with her cousins Corbin and Dorian. After the race, I told Avalon we were going to stay and watch Corbin run a race. Avalon said to me "And then after Corbin's race, Avalon will run a race." She was talking about running a race since the moment we told her we were going to watch a race. So we decided to check and see how far the kids trot was and found out it was only about a 1/4 mile (which actually turned out to be 2 tenths of a mile). Avalon was so excited to run a race that we decided to sign her up. Turns out it was free and she received a free T-shirt too as well as a medal when she finished the race. Pretty cool!

She was pretty concerned about her cousin Dorian who was "running" behind her. So she spent a good amount of time looking backward, so we'll have to work on that for her next race. :)


As soon as we crossed the finish line and she received her medal, she said "I want to run the race again." Too cute!
We had along wait (about an hour) between the race and the kids trot, so here are some things Avalon did before the race.

Avalon did a great job cheering on the runners. She played the recorder and received lots of smiles from the runners going by. One guy even said "I wish there were a hundred of her at the end of the race." Avalon did also tell me that some of the racers "were looking tired" and then she would also say "but that guy is not tired."
