And here is how today started...

  And here is how it ended, with Jarad teaching the kids how to change a tire on the car!

We were in need of new tires anyways and had been planning to get winter tires put on soon.  So overall, it wasn't too big of a deal.  We're brining it in tomorrow to get\ the winter tires.  Just the push we needed to get it done!  

Beautiful way to start the day!

This is how my day started this morning!  Gorgeous!

Then I got to go to my son's Remembrance day assembly where he Then, I attended a Remembrance Day assembly at Archer’s school where he was in the choir.  The choir sang a song about the poppy’s and while the kids enter the gym for the assembly. Then each class brought up a poppy wreath that they had made.  Archer’s class is the one on the right.

At the end of the assembly, the choir sang “Peaceful River.”  Archer did a great job singing. The smile on his face right before he started singing when he saw me there was worth going to the assembly!  I think he was happy I came!

After school, Avie had a cooking class, so Archer and I walked around Como Lake and came across a really neat experience.

We have a beautiful view from right near our house!  You can see Mount Baker in the distance!  We have had cool beautiful weather with no rain these last two weeks! 

Halloween

To our kids delight, Halloween is celebrated in Canada much like the United States!  We were sad to miss our annual tradition of trick or treating and dinner with our friends in Ames, but were lucky to get great weather here for trick or treating last night!  It was cold, but no rain!  Whew!

Avie was Link from the Legend of Zelda and Archer was, of course, a slice of pizza!



Archer's school had a Halloween parade that the parents were invited to attend.     All the kids walked around the gym 1 class at a time and then all the kids stood up and sang 2 songs.  The 5th graders did a dance to "Thriller" followed by all the students doing the "Macarana" dance with the teachers leading in the front!  It was fun to go into the school and see all the kids in costumes!



We went over to one of Archer's friends house and trick or treated with them!  It was a bit different than Ames as there was no set time for trick or treating and we had to walk up and down lots of hills!  But the kids had a blast and were definitely tired with loads of candy by the time we returned after 1 hour and 20 minutes and 1.3 miles of walking according to my watch.

Didn't take the kids long to sort all this candy!  They candy was similar to the United States but slightly different or different names.   Archer did try to trade 5 candy for 1 sour skittles with his friends, but no one wanted to made the trade.  I guess the sour skittles have a high value this year!  Archer only got one and his friend received 3!

After walking to the kids schools 4 times yesterday:  (1) drop Archer off (1 mile), (2) help with a special Halloween lunch provided by the PAC at Archer's school (1 mile), (3) attend a Halloween parade/assembly at Archer's school following by picking Avie up (2 miles), (4) then picking Archer up after Bricks for Kids (1 mile) AND a 3 mile run with Jarad to train for an upcoming 10K that when are running with my brother in a few weeks, my total steps and miles were over 11 miles, so I was pretty tired by the time we got home last night!
